CANTON, ST. PAUL & PACIFIC RAILWAY
7.5" gauge, member owned. The recently completed mile-long main line includes three tunnels, two large timber trestles and several smaller bridges, and offers spectacular views of the Etowah River Valley. The line climbs 35 feet in elevation through heavily wooded mountainous territory. The ruling grade, eastbound between Sargent and St. Paul, is 2% on a 60-foot radius curve. All operations are bi-directional. Passing tracks, radio dispatching and industrial sidings insure that every trip is interesting, different, and sometimes challenging. The roundhouse with elevated bays, machine shop, and ample water tanks along the line make the CStP&P a very Steam Friendly railroad. Growth is continuing with additional yard trackage and new industries being planned and built.
