CANTON, ST. PAUL & PACIFIC RAILWAY
7.5" gauge, member owned. The recently completed mile-long main
line includes three tunnels, two large timber trestles and several
smaller bridges, and offers spectacular views of the Etowah River
Valley. The line climbs 35 feet in elevation through heavily wooded
mountainous territory. The ruling grade, eastbound between Sargent
and St. Paul, is 2% on a 60-foot radius curve. All operations are
bi-directional. Passing tracks, radio dispatching and industrial
sidings insure that every trip is interesting, different, and
sometimes challenging. The roundhouse with elevated bays, machine
shop, and ample water tanks along the line make the CStP&P a very
“Steam Friendly” railroad. Growth is continuing with additional yard
trackage and new industries being planned and built. Visitors are
asked to make arrangements well in advance • Bill Bryan, 110
